Cantariña 1 La Tintorera 2017

“La Tintorera” comes from the grapes of a very small plot close to 1/3 of Ha within Viña de los Pinos that our grandfather planted with Alicante Bouschet to colour the Mencía wines… With time, this variety more appropriate of Mediterranean climates has perfectly adapted to Bierzo where it shows a more perfumed and fresh face. Bordering with Camino de la Virgen, its vines taint the landscape burgundy and red after the harvest season. They are stubborn and strong, slow maturing and require an important effort in the pruning to achieve the right balance between the fragrance and acidity of the variety. We keep a special cherish for this vineyard and the wine it yields since it was the origin of the precious adventure we are living in Cantariña. That is the reason it deserves to wear the number 1 among our wines.

Tasting Notes

Attractive dark colour, deep reddish purple characteristic of Alicante Bouschet, with a hint of black berries and spices, tomato leaf and rose pepper, it presents an acute fruity tone and due to its low alcohol content it is an easy drinking wine despite its complexity and delicacy. Ideal for starters, shared tapas and informal friendly gatherings. The terrible freeze of 2017 left only 750 bottles for the most fortunate!
